RED OSIER JOINS AIRPORT CONCESSIONS
Fri, May 05 2006
Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks today announced that the Greater Rochester International Airport (GRIA) has added a new food kiosk to its concessions with ties to our local community, Red Osier. The new Airport kiosk is Red Osier’s first full-service location in an International Airport and the center of their national sales offices.
“We welcome Red Osier to our terminal and we are excited to offer this local product with passengers visiting our area,” said Brooks. “Thanks to this location, individuals traveling to Monroe County or incurring a layover can experience some local flavor during their stay.”
In 1997, Red Osier moved their entire roast beef division to Monroe County and opened concessions at both Frontier Field and Blue Cross Arena. Red Osier has served 2 million customers in over 27 years and is the largest independent user of prime rib on the East Coast.
Most recently, Tyson Foods announced Red Osier Roast Beef a national distribution item carrying the local product at civic centers, stadiums, casinos and airports across the nation. “After more than 25 years of producing the best roast beef in upstate New York, we’re excited to see our product going national,” says Robert Moore, President of Red Osier Food Products. “
Our presence in the Greater Rochester International Airport not only allows travelers to take a regional specialty in the air with them, it also symbolizes our ability to reach consumers across the U.S. from right here in Monroe County.” Many of the concessions and vendors located within the terminal have reported up to a 20% increase in their business since the newly renovated Central Passenger Security Checkpoint opened in February 2005.
Last year, passenger boardings at the Greater Rochester International Airport reached an all-time high. Year-end enplanements for 2005 totaled 1,457,573 passengers, a 6% increase over 2004 and a 17% increase over 2003.
