County Executive Maggie Brooks announced that Eastman Kodak Company has donated a mobile lab vehicle and communications equipment to Monroe County.

I would like to thank Kodak for the generous donation of this vehicle and equipment,” said Brooks. “This is another example of public-private cooperation that allows us to further enhance public safety in our community, while saving taxpayer dollars.”

The mobile lab vehicle is a 1995 Ford panel truck with less than 6,000 miles. The vehicle is equipped as a multi-function work center. Its mobile climate-controlled platform includes lab benches, instrument racks, and storage cabinets. Dual electrical generators are capable of powering the HVAC system to protect the sophisticated instruments that the vehicle is designed to house.

In addition to the vehicle, Kodak has donated 111 Motorola computers and laptops for emergency communications. The equipment will be used to further enhance the County’s emergency communications capabilities.

As a result of Kodak’s digital transformation, this vehicle and communication equipment were no longer required,” said Dave Kiser, Kodak Vice President and Director of Health, Safety and Environment. “We are pleased to find that it can enjoy a number of years of further service with Monroe County.”

The vehicle will be used jointly by the County’s Departments of Public Safety and Environmental Services. Environmental Services is currently using the vehicle for day-to-day construction and maintenance of the County’s fiber optic network. In the event of an emergency, first responders from Public Safety will use the vehicle. The vehicle will be equipped with computer hardware, software, and peripherals, including GPS (Global Positioning System), Pictometry Aerial Photography, Remote Sensing, and Virtual Communication.
