Brooks and AirTran Airways Announce Non-Stop Service to Las Vegas
Monroe CountyExecutive Maggie Brooks and officials from AirTran Airways announced that the airline will be expanding their flight service at the Greater Rochester International Airport (GRIA). AirTran Airways will begin non-stop flight service from Rochester to Las Vegas, Nevada effective August 15, 2007.
 
This is exciting news for our community, and I am thrilled to welcome AirTran Airways’ new direct service to Las Vegas,”said Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks.“Thanks to the addition of low cost carriers such as AirTran Airways, our Greater Rochester International Airport has experienced record growth and has demonstrated to Western New York our leadership in attracting competitive, affordable air service to major cities.”
 
Brooks said 2006 year-end passenger boardings at GRIA reached 1,430,418.
 
Nineteen percent of all passengers who fly out of GRIA use AirTran Airways, making it the second most-traveled airline out of Rochester.
 
In August 2006, Monroe County and GRIA marked an important milestone when total passengers flying low cost air carriers like AirTran Airways topped the two million mark.
 
Las Vegas is all about style and big money, and AirTran Airways can get you there in style without having to spend big money,” said Kevin Healy, Vice President of Planning for AirTran Airways. “You can now get to Las Vegas with extra money for a few hands of cards or a show.”
 
Starting August 15, 2007, AirTran Airways will offer direct service between Rochester and Las Vegas. Flight times are as follows:
