Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks announced that Six Month Smiles, Inc. has been named Monroe County’s “Business of the Month” and is featured on Monroe County’s website, monroecounty.gov. Six Month Smiles was founded by Dr. Ryan Swain in 2006, after he developed a revolutionary product which offers a quicker alternative to adult cosmetic orthodontics.

 

“Six Month Smiles is an incredibly unique small business that has enhanced our region’s reputation as a place that fosters the spirits of entrepreneurship and innovation,” said Monroe County Executive Brooks. “Dr. Swain has put Monroe County on the map in a number of ways, and I am truly grateful for his continued investment in our local economy through job creation and global business development.”

 

Dr. Swain has developed training classes and seminars for dentists, along with his invention of a patient tray kit for use by administering dentists which includes the necessary orthodontic tools, wires and brackets. Six Month Smiles has expanded internationally and now has activity in over 23 countries. This groundbreaking system has allowed general dentists to expand their practices and treat patients they were previously unable to assist. Six Month Smiles was recently featured on the cover of Dental Town magazine, one of the largest dental publications published in the world.

 

“When my start-up business, Six Month Smiles, Inc., took off and became an international orthodontic company, I needed more space to keep up with the growth. I was thrilled to find a great location in Monroe County,” said Dr. Ryan Swain, Founder and CEO, Six Month Smiles. “I love the down-to-earth nature of the people here.  I've been able to build a fantastic and rapidly growing team of local people, and together, we are providing new smiles for people all over the world!”

 

Six Month Smiles recently moved from a small office in the Town of Chili, to a 5,382 square foot facility in the Village of Scottsville located at 35 East Main Street. In 2010, Six Month Smiles partnered with Monroe County to invest nearly $400,000 in state-of-the-art equipment and renovations to their new building. Six Month Smiles began with four employees in 2009, and has added nearly 40 jobs since that time.
