Brooks Announces PKG Equipment, Inc. is June Business of the Month
County Executive Maggie Brooks announced that PKG Equipment, Inc. has been named Monroe County’s “Business of the Month” for June of 2014 and is now featured on the Monroe County website at monroecounty.gov.
“PKG is an incredibly unique small business that puts Monroe County on the map by serving customers in a variety of markets around the world,” said Brooks. “As a single source provider of custom wet and dry process equipment for those in the manufacturing industry, PKG has developed a strong reputation for excellence that will serve them well into the future. We thank them for their investment in our local economy as they continue to create jobs and enhance our community’s world-class quality of life.”
PKG is a manufacturer of wet and dry process equipment for customers in the finishing, chemical manufacturing, steel manufacturing and glass manufacturing industries. Founded in 1969 by Sam Pontarelli, the company is now owned by three of his children. PKG has grown from a regional manufacturer to serving customers worldwide.
PKG recently completed its third expansion in 2013 with assistance from the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency (COMIDA). The 15,000 square-foot addition to its existing 33,000 square foot facility allowed the company to expand their capabilities to cover multiple business operations. By leveraging COMIDA investments, PKG was able to add additional space and purchase equipment that is now assisting them in completing the largest order in company history.
PKG Equipment, Inc. has been located in Monroe County since its founding in 1969. In 1990 they relocated to their current location on Paul Road in the Town of Chili. They currently employ nearly 40 local workers.
