Monroe County to Participate In Statewide STOP-DWI Super Bowl Weekend Crackdown Enforcement Effort

Monroe County will participate in a statewide crackdown on impaired driving Super Bowl Weekend from February 5th – February 8th. New York State Police, Monroe County Sheriffs, and municipal law enforcement agencies from across the State will be out in force to reduce the number of alcohol related injuries and deaths.

“The Super Bowl provides us with a wonderful opportunity to come together in celebration of one of the year’s most exciting sporting events. As we spend time with our friends and families this weekend, let us not forget to do so safely and responsibly,” said County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo. “As County Executive, public safety is one of my top priorities. We are pleased that our County law enforcement agencies will be joining their partners throughout the state to ensure that our roads remain free from impaired drivers during this Super Bowl weekend.”

The STOP-DWI Super Bowl Weekend Crackdown is one of many statewide enforcement initiatives promoted by the New York State STOP-DWI Foundation. The Statewide STOP-DWI Crackdown Campaign also targets St. Patrick’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day Weekend, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the Holiday season in December. These efforts are supported with funding from both the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

“Remember to think about other residents of Monroe County. Be safe, ‘have a plan’, don’t drive, get a ride”, said Peggy Duffy, STOP-DWI Coordinator.

To receive more information on responsible driving or to locate and call a taxi service in the area, residents can download the STOP-DWI “Have a Plan” mobile app at www.stopdwi.org/mobileapp.
