Dinolfo Announces New "On The Road" Veterans Discount Card Service

Dinolfo Announces New

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo and Laura Stradley, Director of the Monroe County Veterans Service Agency (VSA), announced an expansion of the Monroe County Veterans Discount Card Program.  The Monroe County VSA will be taking the Veterans Discount Card Program “on the road” to events throughout the community and bring with them the ability to print discount cards on site at no cost to the Veteran.

“We owe our Veterans a debt that can never be repaid,” said Dinolfo. “In 2011, I developed the Veterans Discount Card Program for the County as a small way for our community to give back to the selfless men and women who have served in our Armed Forces. We are proud to expand an already great program by bringing these benefits closer to Veterans.”

Local Veterans interested in obtaining a Veterans Discount Card can stop by any one of these upcoming local events:

·    Valor Day: June 18th, MCC Brighton Campus– Warshof Conference Center, 1000 E. Henrietta Rd, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
·    Vets Driving Vets Orientation, June 22nd, Compeer Program Offices, 259 Monroe Ave, 10:00 a.m. - Noon
·    Brookdale Assisted Living Facility, July 21st, 7 Chardonnay Dr, Fairport, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
·    Senior Day at Ontario Beach Park, 4650 Lake Ave, August 19th, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Obtaining a Veterans Discount Card is convenient and easy.  Veterans simply provide a copy of their DD214 to representatives from the VSA who will make a certified copy, take a photo of the Veteran and print a card on the spot.  No application is necessary and there is no fee involved.  The program offers discounted services from local businesses to honorably discharged Veterans, active duty military personnel and reservists.

"We are excited to take the Veterans Discount Card Program on the road this summer,” said Stradley. “By bringing our services to Veterans, we know it will be easier for them to register their DD214s with the County. Furthermore, we're honored to be able to offer the unique Veterans Discount Card, pioneered by County Executive Dinolfo, in appreciation for everything Veterans have done for our nation.  Though it's a small gesture, we hope it will help express our deepest gratitude for their selfless service and sacrifice."

In 2015, the VSA filed 5,830 claims to recover over $5.5 million in benefits for local Veterans. The VSA expects to surpass that number this year, already filing 3,380 claims and recovering almost $3.5 million in 2016.

Veterans Discount Cards are also available at the Monroe County VSA Office, 125 Westfall Rd, and the Monroe County Clerk’s Office, 39 W. Main St.
