Dinolfo Appoints Mark Geise to Economic Development Manager

County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced that Mark Geise is joining Monroe County as the Economic Development Manager.  Mark comes to Monroe County with nearly six years of experience as the Deputy Director of the Planning and Economic Development Department in Chautauqua County. Geise currently works as a Senior Planner with the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation.

“I am excited to welcome Mark Geise to Monroe County government,” said Dinolfo. “Mark brings a wealth of experience from his tenure with the Chautauqua County Department of Planning and Economic Development. I am looking forward to the great things Jeff Adair and Mark will do as they spur economic development and provide residents greater employment opportunities here at home.”

Geise’s many accomplishments include the 2011 Chautauqua County Comprehensive Plan, which led to the development of an equestrian trail, and a greenway plan, the Concord Grape Belt Heritage Area Management Plan, and the Chautauqua Lake Watershed Management Plan. The 2011 Chautauqua County Comprehensive Plan, Concord Grape Belt Heritage Area Management Plan, and the Chautauqua Lake Watershed Management Plan are American Planning Association award winners. Additionally, Mark founded the Chautauqua County Land Bank Corporation where he currently serves as its Executive Director.

“Monroe County has always been on the leading edge of economic development, and I’m eager to join this team,” said Geise. “In my time in Chautauqua County, I was able to use my skills to bring jobs and opportunity to that community, and I’m excited to do the same thing here.”

Earlier this month, Dinolfo appointed businessman Jeffrey R. Adair to the top position within the County’s Planning and Development Department.  Adair’s business career in the food processing industry began 30 years ago as a truck driver for a regional bakery and culminated as a top sales executive in the northeastern United States for the world’s largest bakery company, Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B.  Additionally, Adair has broad governmental experience having previously served as Supervisor of the Town of Wheatland, a county legislator and President of the Monroe County Legislature.

“Mark Geise is an excellent addition to our economic development team,” said Adair.  “I know Mark is excited to join County Executive Dinolfo’s team as we improve upon Monroe County’s already impressive Planning and Development programs and fulfill our core mission of increasing economic opportunity and prosperity for all our residents.”
