Dinolfo Urges People To Avoid Calling 911 Unless Necessary

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo has activated the Emergency Operations Center in order to coordinate a community-wide response to dangerous conditions caused by high winds and is urging residents to avoid unnecessary calling 911 unless it is absolutely necessary.

“911 is experiencing extremely high call volume and they are adding new people to process the number of calls coming in,” said County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo. “Phone lines need to be kept open for high-priority emergency calls which need an immediate response.”

If wires are down, residents should not touch them. RG&E advises that if there is immediate danger with sparking wires, call 911. If no sparks are observed, residents should contact RG&E at 1-800-743-1702.
