Dinolfo Announces Opening of Emergency Shelter at Monroe Community College

As part of the ongoing response to continued power outages and rapidly dropping temperatures, Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo is announcing the opening of an emergency shelter at Monroe Community College (MCC). The shelter is a partnership with MCC and the American Red Cross, and will open at 7:00 p.m.

100 beds will be available for those in need. As temperatures continue to drop, emergency personnel expect an additional need for overnight shelter. There is capacity for more beds depending on need.

The shelter will be located in MCC Building 10, the Samuel Stabbins Athletic Building. MCC is located at 1000 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14623. Residents seeking shelter should follow signs on campus and park in Lot G.

If you are planning on coming to this location, please call 911 to alert shelter personnel, so they can prepare for incoming residents. Transportation is also available for residents with medical needs.

Please remember to continue checking on elderly friends and family.
