Dinolfo Announces Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience Kickoff

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced the start of the Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience (SAME) Program at Monroe #1 BOCES and Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES. Monroe County, BOCES and Monroe Community College have sponsored the SAME Program at Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES in Spencerport for the past six years. This summer is the first time the Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience (SAME) Program is being offered at Monroe #1 BOCES.

“The Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience program is a great way for high school students to learn about and train in exciting career opportunities available right here in Monroe County,” said Dinolfo. “In addition to providing valuable, hands-on experience to students, the program helps develop our strong and skilled workforce and encourages students to seize our community’s entrepreneurial spirit and start their own businesses.”

The three week program at the Eastern Monroe Career Center (EMCC) provides students entering high school with experience using state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment which better prepares them for higher education and the workforce. Participants will receive 90 hours of training on state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing equipment, tour manufacturing and optics and photonics businesses throughout the region and earn up to three college credit hours at Monroe Community College towards a precision manufacturing certificate.

Funding for the SAME Program is made possible by donation from the Monroe County Industrial Development Corporation (MCIDC). This summer’s SAME Program began on Monday, July 10, 2017 and ends on Friday, July 28, 2017 with a joint graduation ceremony at Monroe Community College.

Monroe County Industrial Development Corporation is a not-for-profit that promotes economic development opportunities within the County of Monroe, providing additional employment and job opportunities.
