Meal Programs

Senior Center programs located throughout Monroe County serve residents age 60 and over. All offer a nutritious meal and many have a complete calendar of recreational, cultural, educational, health and social services programs. Transportation services are available at many programs. There are several meal programs available for mature adults in Monroe County.

Lunch Club 60 Program

The Lunch Club 60 Program is a congregate meal program for persons with 60 or more years of wisdom and is administered by the Monroe County Office for the Aging. It was created in 1972 as part of the Older Americans Act, and is designed to help the older person enjoy better health through improved nutrition. The suggested meal donation for Lunch Club 60 is $2.50. Meal selections change monthly.

Lunch Club 60 programs are located throughout Monroe County and each program is unique. Most locations offer activities and events based on the interests of people who attend. If you have questions, contact your Senior Center/Site or the Office for the Aging at 585 753-6281.

Supper Club 60

Supper Club 60 (585 753-6281) is a program for seniors run by Wegmans Chili-Paul Market Café and the Monroe County Office for the Aging. Seniors are invited to attend Supper Club 60 for dinner every Tuesday at either 4:15 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. at the Wegmans Market Cafe, 3175 Chili Avenue.

A $4 donation is requested for a meal that includes an entree, side dishes, dessert and beverage. Guests are required to place dinner reservations in person, one week in advance, at the Supper Club 60 registration table located in the cafe. Membership is required and can also be applied for at the cafe, however, there is no membership fee. For more information call 585 274-6285.

Home Delivered Meals

Bon Appetit at Home

The Monroe County Office for the Aging contracts with Visiting Nurse Service of Rochester and Monroe County, Inc. (585 787-8313) to assist with better health through nutrition. Often mealtime becomes a real challenge for individuals who are recuperating from an illness or who are too ill or frail to prepare a meal. Meals on Wheels provides the valuable nutrition needed. Anyone can make a request for service.

To be eligible for this service a person must be:

  • 60 years of age;
  • homebound;
  • living alone or with someone who is unable to prepare nutritious meals and/or is absent during the day.

Visiting Nurse Service has numerous meal programs. The meals funded by the Office for the Aging have a recommended donation of $3.00 per meal.
