2008 Airfield Construction

Taxiway A

This project completes the full length taxiway for runway 4-22, the 8,000 foot primary runway.  The project constructs 900 feet of 75' wide concrete taxiway, work also includes major drainage improvements and associated earthwork.  The project also involves major modification to both FAA NAV AID circuity and reconfiguration of airfield lighting circuits.  Completion of this project with the related commissioning by the FAA of the new Doppler VOR/DME, which was completed in the Fall of 2007, provides a major safety improvement for taxiing aircraft on the airfield.

Project Period:  Fall 2007 - Summer 2008

North Ramp Safety ImprovementsPicture of airport.

The project provides for the reconstruction of 104,000 sf of the existing aircraft parking ramp at the Terminal.  Work includes removal of major areas of deteriorated concrete and asphalt ramp, installation of drainage systems, subbase stone and new concrete ramp materials.  The project has been defined in seven phases to minimize disruption of airline operations.

Project Period: Fall 2007 - Fall 2008

Rehabilitate Runway 10/28 and Related Safety Improvements

This project  is a major safety improvement to the eastern portion of the runway 5,500 cross wind runway.  The work includes reconstruction of 3,200 feet of the runway and rehabilitation of an additional 600 feet of the runway.  The intersection of the runway with Taxiway H will be constructed approximately three feet higher than the present elevation as a result of the need to adjust the runway profile to conform to current Federal Aviation Administration design criteria.  The project includes significant pavement removal by milling, allows for reuse of a portion of the removed materials for new construction and includes placement of a new asphalt pavement section with grooving for pavement drainage.

Project Period:  Summer 2008 - Winter 2008

Voluntary Airfield Low Emission Program (VALE)

This program constructs a new compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling facility for airport vehicles.  The program also supports the conversion of existing airport vehicles from gasoline to CNG as the source of fuel.  This is the initial phase of an air quality initiative supported by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Project Period: Summer 2008 - Summer 2009

Airside Roadway Program

This project completes the seven mile airside roadway system with the installation of 2,500 feet of road parallel with Beahan Road.  The project also upgrades the surface of 5,000 feet of the existing airside roadway at the south end of the property.  All materials utilized for the roadway were reclaimed from existing airfield projects.

Project Period:  Spring 2008 - Fall 2008
