2009 Airfield Construction

VALE - Compressed Natural Gas Fueling Facility

This project will construct a facility to dispense Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to Airport Vehicles.  The Facility will be located at the Fueling complex at 1155 Scottsville Road.  The work includes the delivery piping for natural gas to the equipment compound.  This equipment will compress the gas to the required density and provide the dispensing mechanism to the vehicles.  A concrete pad to support the equipment, security fencing, drainage piping and CNG dispensing equipment will be installed.

Project Funding:  $1.3 Million, funded with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Grants

Project Period:  Summer 2008 - Spring 2009

Reconstruct the Intersection of Taxiway D & Taxiway HPicture of airport.

The intersection Taxiway D and Taxiway H will be upgraded with a combination of reconstruction and rehabilitation.  The work will include the realignment of Taxiway H west of the intersection and lowering the centerline profile to address non-standard line of sight between the air carrier runways.  The project will also configure the intersection of realignment of Taxiway N (former Taxiway H).  The work will include excavation and embankment, milling of the existing pavement, installation of new pavement subbase gravels and new concrete and asphalt pavements.  The related work includes underdrain, storm system upgrade, new runway lighting and signage, and pavement markings.

 

Project Funding:  $3.0 Million, funded with FAA Grants

Project Period:  Spring 2009 - Summer 2009

Rehabilitate Runway 10-28 - Contract 2

The segment of the runway from Taxiway D west to Runway 4-22 (1,000) will be upgraded with a combination of reconstruction and rehabilitation.  The work will include lowering the centerline profile by approximately one (1) foot at Taxiway D to address non-standard line of sight for pilots per the advisory circulars.  The project will also remove the eight (8) foot paved shoulders from either side of the 150' wide runway.  The work will include excavation and embankment, milling of the exisitng pavement, installation of new pavement subbase gravels and a new asphalt pavement structure.  The related work includes underdrain, storm system upgrade, new runway lighting, signage, pavement markings and runway grooving.

 

Project Funding:  $2.5 Million, funded with FAA Grants

Reconstruct the Intersection of Taxiway E & Taxiway N

- Be sure to contact your air carrier before travel to verify luggage restrictions such as total number of bags allowed, size and weight of each bag.

- Be aware of items in your carry on baggage that may slow your process in passing through the security checkpoint. 

- Familiarize yourself with the new security directive regarding liquids & gels in your carry on luggage.  Each passenger is allowed a single, clear, one-quart, zip lock baggie for liquids & gels in quantities of three-ounces or less.  Save time, by packing your zip lock baggies at home. Visit www.tsa.gov for the latest information on this new security directive.

*No liquids, gels, and/or aerosols are permitted EXCEPT one clear transparent resealable 1 quart (1 liter) size plastic bag which may contain liquids, gels, and/or aerosols in travel size containers of 3.4 oz (100 ml) capacity or less per container.  The plastic bag containing the liquids, gels, and/or aerosols must be completely closed/sealed and subjected to x-ray inspection separate from accessible property.

 

*You may have the items listed below, but you must declare them to TSA at the screening checkpoint if they are not contained in a clear transparent resealable 1 quart (1 liter) size plastic bag and/or are over 3.4 oz (100 ml).

 

**Baby formula/milk (to include breast milk) baby food and juice in containers if a baby or small child is traveling

**Medications (liquid, gels, and/or aerosol)

**Liquids (to include juice) or gels for diabetic or other medical needs
