Car Rentals

Car rental counters at the Greater Rochester International Airport (GRIA) are located on the lower level adjacent to the baggage claim area. Please see the list below for car rentals serving GRIA.

RTS Buses

The Airport is serviced by the Rochester Transit Service (RTS) throughout the day. Bus schedules are available at the Visitors Information Booth, can be obtained by calling RTS directly at 585 288-1700 or can be viewed by visiting the RTS website. The bus shelter is located on lower level roadway, east end of airport.

Current RTS Rates: $1.00.

Airport Shuttle Service

The “Rochester Rocket” will shuttle you to/from the main terminal when you park in the shuttle parking lots.

 

Rochester Shuttle Express has shuttle service departing from GRIA to your final destination.

Greyhound and Amtrak Transportation

Arriving passengers at GRIA seeking transportation to the Greyhound Bus Line/New York Trailways or Amtrak can find accommodations from the airport.

Greyhound Bus Line and New York Trailways have a terminal located at Midtown Plaza, which is located in downtown Rochester.

The Rochester Transportation Service (RTS) bus picks up directly in front of the airport terminal on the lower level. Passengers would take the RTS to Midtown Plaza and Greyhound is located through Midtown Plaza to the left.

Amtrak’s station is not on the RTS bus route from the airport, however, taxi service for passengers is available.

For more specific RTS schedules and information please stop by the Visitor’s Information Booth located in the baggage claim area of the airport or visit the Rochester-Genesee Regional Transportation Authority website.

Holiday Travel Tips

-Arrive at least 2 hours prior to your scheduled departure time.

- Have a parking plan.  Try our new Valet Parking or Airport Economy Shuttle Parking & leave the running to us!

- Be sure to contact your air carrier before travel to verify luggage restrictions such as total number of bags allowed, size and weight of each bag.

- Be aware of items in your carry on baggage that may slow your process in passing through the security checkpoint. 

- Familiarize yourself with the new security directive regarding liquids & gels in your carry on luggage.  Each passenger is allowed a single, clear, one-quart, zip lock baggie for liquids & gels in quantities of three-ounces or less.  Save time, by packing your zip lock baggies at home. Visit www.tsa.gov for the latest information on this new security directive.

THE FOLLOWING RESTRICTIONS APPLY TO LIQUIDS, GELS, AND/OR AEROSOLS WHEN ENTERING THE STERILE AREA THROUGH THE PASSENGER SCREENING CHECKPOINT

 

*No liquids, gels, and/or aerosols are permitted EXCEPT one clear transparent resealable 1 quart (1 liter) size plastic bag which may contain liquids, gels, and/or aerosols in travel size containers of 3.4 oz (100 ml) capacity or less per container.  The plastic bag containing the liquids, gels, and/or aerosols must be completely closed/sealed and subjected to x-ray inspection separate from accessible property.

 

*You may have the items listed below, but you must declare them to TSA at the screening checkpoint if they are not contained in a clear transparent resealable 1 quart (1 liter) size plastic bag and/or are over 3.4 oz (100 ml).

 

**Baby formula/milk (to include breast milk) baby food and juice in containers if a baby or small child is traveling

**Medications (liquid, gels, and/or aerosol)

**Liquids (to include juice) or gels for diabetic or other medical needs

Midtown Clock - Holiday Viewing Hours

Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks and Monroe County Airport Authority Chairman James G. Vazzana, Esq., have made available the following viewing hours this Holiday Season for the public to come to the Airport and view the historic Midtown Clock

 

Saturday & Sunday, December 12th & 13th from 1 - 4pm

Saturday & Sunday, December 19th & 20th from 1 - 4pm

 

Participants must pre-register by calling 585-753-7020 no later than December 11th for the first weekend and no later than December 18th for the second weekend.  Participants must bring a drivers license or passport and will be required to go through the Security Checkpoint.

 

Please park in Short Term Parking.  Reduced rate $2.00 parking passes will be provided to participants viewing the clock.
