Advertising Opportunities
The Greater Rochester International Airport (GRIA) offers a variety of opportunities for local businesses and corporations to advertise their products in our terminal. GRIA is a great place to purchase advertising space. Advertising is highly visible throughout our terminal and is available on both sides of security. Advertising is visible to 2.5 million passengers that travel through GRIA each year and also to the hundreds of thousands of meeters and greeters that fill our airport annually. Most recently for 2003, GRIA’s air passenger traffic hit a five-year high.
GRIA is often the first impression many business travelers get of the Rochester area. Advertising at GRIA helps represent the many important contributions local businesses and corporations have provided to the Greater Rochester area. Below are examples of the different advertising mediums available at GRIA. For more information on Airport Advertising space, please contact us by e-mail or contact Normal Communications at 585 262-6030.
- Coloramas
Large, two-sided, back-lit units that hang from the airport ceiling. There are two Coloramas at GRIA, one at the head of concourse A and the other at the head of concourse B. - Dioramas
Smaller than the coloramas, the back-lit units are placed throughout the airport terminal. Dioramas appear on flight information displays as seen here, as well as beyond security in concourses A and B, upstairs in each waiting area rotunda, along the terminal walls in the upper halls, above the escalators and along the baggage claim area. - Floor Decals
Full color floor decals have appeared on the tile floor on the upper and lower levels and at the bottom of the escalators on the tile. - Bus Shelter Posters
There are two bus shelters on the terminal roadway and one bus shelter at the exit of the airport facing the intersection of Brooks Avenue and Buell Road. The shelters can accommodate two posters, one on each side. - Baggage Claim Banners
GRIA has ample wall space along the six baggage claim belts to hang banners. The baggage claim area is on the lower level with the car rental agencies. - Parking Garage Banners
There is limited space along the walls of the parking garage for banners also. The parking garage banners face the short term parking lot and the main terminal road along the front of GRIA. - Glass Kiosks
The airport has round, glass, lighted kiosks to display products throughout the terminal. The kiosks appear on the upper and lower level as well as beyond security on concourses A and B. - Product Displays
There is limited space throughout the airport terminal for privately owned company kiosks, automotive displays, product displays, etc. Please contact us if you have a free standing display, product or kiosk you would like to have placed at the airport for a designated time period. - Hotel/Motel Board
This back lit mini-diorama unit is designed specifically for hotel/motel accommodations in the Rochester area. There are two hotel/motel boards in GRIA, both are located on the lower level next to the baggage claim area. In addition, the hotel/motel board is equipped with a telephone and the extensions so that passengers may contact any hotel/motel on the board for lodging. - Restaurant Board
A three-sided, black velcro, board displaying restaurants in the Rochester area is also located on the lower level in the baggage claim area. Restaurants may use the board to post pictures, information, brochures or menus of their restaurant.

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is responsible for all aircraft operations on the ground and in the airspace of the Rochester International Airport.
The FAA operates the Airport Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) and the Flight Standards District Office (FSDO). The tower has a radar room or TRACON (Terminal Radar Approach Control) where air traffic controllers monitor the in-flight activity of all aircraft entering Rochester airspace. The Rochester ATCT is one of only a few towers in the U.S. to use the latest state-of-the-art radar display system know as STARS (Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System). STARS enables the controllers to guide more aircraft, more safely than ever before. Radar data can be received from multiple sources, virtually eliminating equipment failures.
During 2005, the Air Traffic Control Tower at Greater Rochester International Airport handled 149,000 operations. It is the fourth such facility to be built since the airport opened.
