Appliances containing refrigerant (i.e. Freon) are accepted at the ecopark only during Special Collections. FEE APPLIES (credit/debit card only).

Major household appliances containing refrigerant include:

• Refrigerators
• Freezers
• Air Conditioners
• Dehumidifiers

Appliances with refrigerant require its removal prior to recycling. Removal of refrigerant must be completed by a licensed professional and has an associated service fee. Refrigerant-containing appliances can be recycled at the ecopark only during Special Collections. FEE APPLIES (credit/debit card only). $15 per item.

NOTES:

When purchasing a new appliance, ask if the retailer provides "haul away service" for the appliance that is being replaced. In some instances, this may be free or cheaper than recycling it on your own.

RG&E currently offers a service to their customers to pickup and recycle old refrigerators and freezers in working condition (minimum of 10 cubic yards in size). RG&E will have the item picked up for free and pay their customer $30 for the item. Click here for details.
