ABVI Goodwill also accepts some televisions as part of Project Reconnect. Electronics retailers that offer delivery service may offer free 'haul-away' for the item you are replacing.
The New York State Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act requires manufacturers to provide a free and convenient way for consumers to recycle computers and computer peripherals (cable, cord, or wiring permanently affixed to or incorporated into such product) including: monitors, electronic keyboards, electronic mice or similar pointing devices, facsimile machines, document scanners, printers (only those items intended for use with a computer and weighing less than 100 lbs.), televisions (as well as cathode ray tubes) and small scale servers.
