2006 State of the County Address
January 18, 2006
Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks delivered her second State of the County Address Wednesday evening, January 18, 2006, in the chambers of the Monroe County Legislature.
“Good evening. Before I begin my remarks, I ask that you join me in observing a moment of silence in honor of the men and women of Monroe County who defend our freedom in the United States military, and for those we have lost, including most recently, Private First Class Jason Hasenauer of Parma. Thank you.
“I would also like to pay tribute to the 24 Monroe County Employees who have taken military leave during the years following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Some of them are presently on active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, some of them are back home and back to work at their jobs, and two of them are with us tonight. Please join me in welcoming Sylvester Thomas and Hector Alvarado. Thank you both for your service and sacrifice. You make all of us very proud.”
