The Monroe County Office of Mental Health (MCOMH) is committed to improving the health and quality of life of county residents who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, alcohol and other drugs.
MCOMH is an administrative division within the Department of Human Services and is the governmental entity authorized to receive and allocate public mental hygiene funds in accordance with NYS law. As the agency charged with system oversight and encouragement of programs aimed at prevention and treatment, the MCOMH:
- Develops a comprehensive county plan for mental health, developmental disability and alcohol/substance abuse services.
- Allocates funding to local agencies based on community priorities, treatment outcomes, and program performance.
- Ensures coordination of services across levels of care and among an array of community providers.
- Assists in the transformation of our system to providing flexible services are person/family centered, strengths-basedm culturally competent, recovery-oriented and evidence-based.

To accomplish these objectives, the MCOMH: oversees the local service system through a variety of sub-contracts executed by Coordinated Care Services, Inc. (CCSI) on its behalf; provides fiscal oversight and technical assistance to agencies through its staff and that of CCSI; and collaborates extensively with other DHS and county divisions, service providers, and community groups.

Mental Health Services Overview
The Monroe County Office of Mental Health oversees the mental health system and provides funding to a number of community agencies for the provision of services to individuals with mental illness and their families. Mental Health services are available for adults, adolescents and children.
Mental Health Services include:
- Emergency—crisis services
- Inpatient—acute and intermediate levels of care
- Outpatient treatment—individual and group
- Residential/housing services
- Community support programs—vocational support, respite, family support, self-help, consumer initiatives, socialization and recreation opportunities
Community mental health services are aimed at offering individuals and families treatment and support services that assist them in successfully living in the community, avoiding unnecessary hospitalization or out-of-home placement.

Addiction Services Overview
The Monroe County Office of Mental Health oversees the Addiction system and provides funding to a number of community agencies for the provision of addition services for individuals, families and the community. Services are available for adults and adolescents.
Addiction Services include:

Developmental Disabilities Services Overview
The Monroe County Office of Mental Health provides funding to a number of community-based provider agencies for the provision of services to individuals with mental retardation and/or developmental disabilities and their families.
Developmental Disabilities Services funded through the Monroe County Office of Mental Health include:
- Pre-vocational and vocational day services—day training, sheltered workshop, supported employment programs, skill training, work opportunities, support services
- Community support programs—information, referrals, advocacy, public education and awareness, counseling, case management and assistance in ensuring clients rights
- Specialized Services that target populations such as persons with epilepsy, older adults, children with severe handicaps and multicultural populations (i.e., Hispanic, Native American)
