Reciprocity for Level-2 comparable training courses provided by trainers other than the Monroe County Department of Public Health may be granted if found acceptable by review. Training must have been within the past three years, have had a course length of at least six hours, have a testing component, and a certificate issued. If the criteria are met, the food worker is added to the Monroe County Registry and a three-year Monroe County Food Worker Certificate will be issued. The cost of reciprocity for a Level -2 is currently $20. Reciprocity for Level-1 Food Handler in Charge (Manager) certification courses (that are not expired), are accepted without cost. The course must be a nationally recognized manager level course.

The L-2 worker is notified approximately three months prior to expiration of their (three year) certificate. A re-certification class is offered that is approximately two hours in length. Course content includes new or updated information, a review of previous information from the original course and a testing component. Upon successful completion of the test, the certified food worker is reissued another certificate with a three year expiration date. The cost of re-certification is currently $40.

The GreatRebate Program provides businesses with a rebate on equipment purchases of at least $50,000, if the company meets its job creation requirement. The rebate will be $4,000 or if the equipment is purchased locally, the rebate will be $5,000.

In 1926, the county began to assume direct responsibility for the management of local parklands, and today the Parks Department operates 20 parks totaling more than 11,200 acres. Almost all 20 county parks have picnic and hiking areas and most are equipped with sports facilities, shelters and lodges.
