Land Use Decision-Making Training Program Winter 2006

On behalf of the Monroe County Planning Board, the Monroe County Department of Planning and Development began offering a Land Use Decision-Making Training Program in 1985. The program is designed for new and returning municipal board members and is informative for municipal and agency officials and staff, planners, architects, engineers, attorneys, developers and citizens as well.

The Winter 2006 Training Program sessions are scheduled for February 8 and 15, March 1, 9, 15, 22 and 29. There will be workshops on the planning and zoning process, the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQR), land use law, residential development, transportation considerations and reviewing site plans.

Each 2.5-hour training session is approved for 2.0 continuing education credits for municipal assessors. The land use law and SEQR workshops are accredited for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits (2.5 hours each).

Code enforcement officers are eligible for in-service training as follows:

Registration and dinner is from 5:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and the seminar is from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

The program is endorsed by the American Planning Association, Municipal Law Section; American Planning Association, Upstate NY Chapter; American Society of Civil Engineers, Local Chapter; Institute of Transportation Engineers; Monroe County Environmental Management Council; Monroe County Supervisors Association; Monroe County Village Mayors Association; New York Bar Association, Municipal Law Section; New York Planning Federation; Rochester Home Builders Association and the Rochester Regional Community Design Center.
