Dinolfo and O’Flynn Recommend Avoiding Unnecessary Travel

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo and Monroe County Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn are urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel this evening.

“Based on the latest information we are receiving from the National Weather Service, we anticipate a difficult afternoon commute with decreased visibility and the potential for whiteout conditions. Residents should avoid unnecessary travel to alleviate the risks on the roadways and monitor local television and radio for the most up-to-the-minute updates on conditions,” said Dinolfo.  “The County’s Emergency Operation Center on Scottsville Road has been partially activated as we continue monitoring the incoming weather event.”

In addition to the partial activation of the Emergency Operations Center, County Executive Dinolfo is closing Monroe County facilities at 2pm and sending non-essential employees home.

“It is important that people drive for the conditions this afternoon,” said O’Flynn. “Extra law enforcement personnel will be out but we ask residents to avoid unnecessary travel.”

THIS ANNOUNCEMENT DOES NOT RESTRICT TRAVEL IN MONROE COUNTY but is intended to remind residents of the challenges of traveling during winter weather.
