DINOLFO HITS THREE-RUN HOME RUN: LEGISLATURE APPROVES DEALS WITH RED WINGS, JAIL DEPUTIES, AIRPORT FIREFIGHTERS

The Monroe County Legislature tonight approved three major agreements recently reached under the leadership of Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo.

In a unanimous, bipartisan vote, the Legislature authorized Dinolfo’s new long-term lease agreement between Monroe County and Rochester Community Baseball, Inc. for the use of Frontier Field. The Legislature also approved Dinolfo’s new collective bargaining agreements with the Deputy Sheriff’s Association and Airport Firefighters Association.

“From keeping the Red Wings right here in Rochester to rewarding the vital work of our dedicated deputies and firefighters, these agreements show how much we can accomplish when we put our community first and just get things done,” said Dinolfo. “At a time when too many politicians are embracing the corrosive partisanship of Albany and Washington, Monroe County is laser-focused on growing jobs, protecting taxpayers, and supporting local families. I thank my colleagues in the County Legislature for their bipartisan support of these big wins for our community.”

New Lease to Keep Red Wings at Frontier Field:

The Legislature has approved a new lease between Monroe County and Rochester Community Baseball, Inc. for the use of Frontier Field. The lease term is ten years, from 2018 to 2028, and includes a mutual option for another ten-year renewal thereafter. Under the terms of the agreement, Rochester Community Baseball will provide Monroe County $100,000 per year in rent payments. Monroe County will also continue to receive revenues generated from the naming rights agreement with Frontier and from parking. The lease also provides that Monroe County will continue to make capital improvements to Frontier Field in accordance with International League and Major League Baseball standards. The lease additionally sets various expense and revenue sharing arrangements, including those for ticketing, advertising, and maintenance.

The approved lease will now be subject to an upcoming public hearing before being officially executed by Dinolfo.
