Dinolfo: Monroe County DES Recieves Bronze Telly Award

County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced that Monroe County’s Department of Environmental Services (DES) has been named the recipient of a 2019 Bronze Telly Award for their “Recycling Right Begins With You: An Inside Look at the Monroe County Recycling Center” video. The award was announced via the Telly Award website.

“Recycling education is an essential component of our effort to protect taxpayers and the environment by keeping unnecessary waste out of landfills,” said Dinolfo. “From launching the Refresh Recycling Campaign two years ago to winning awards for their education and outreach tools, our County DES Team continues to be a leader in environmental stewardship. I appreciate their incredible work and I’m proud to have such innovative and dedicated employees working on behalf of our community.”

Monroe County’s effort, a joint endeavor with Waste Management and Nxt Media of Fairport, was designed to give an “up close and personal” look at the Monroe County Recycling Center, while showing residents why Recycling Right is more important now that ever.

Established in 1979, the Telly Awards are the premier awards honoring video and television. Over 12,000 entries were received for the 2019 competition, representing all 50 states and countries across five continents. Telly Awards are judged by a panel of more than 200 media industry experts, including advertising agencies, production companies and major television networks, which reflect the broad makeup of the multiscreen industry.

The video is used in the County’s extensive recycling education and outreach efforts, and can be viewed on the Monroe County website at:
