Dinolfo Announces Record Support for Annual “Coats for Seniors” Program

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced that her “Coats for Seniors” program collected a record number of coats for seniors in need this winter. The initiative, sponsored by the Monroe County Office for the Aging and Medical Motors, collected 720 donated winter coats for seniors in need during the 2018-19 season, a new record benchmark for the program.

“Cold winter weather can be challenging for everyone. But for our local seniors, having a warm coat delivered right to their door can make a big difference when it comes to ensuring their comfort and safety,” said Dinolfo. “For over 15 years, our Coats for Seniors program has harnessed our community’s generosity to help keep thousands of our older neighbors warm and safe. I thank Medical Motors, GRAPE, and all of our partners for getting more warm coats to more local seniors than ever this winter.”

In December, Dinolfo was joined by County Legislature Deputy Majority Leader Tanya Conley as well as representatives from Medical Motors, the Greater Rochester Area Partnership for the Elderly (GRAPE), and Colony Dry Cleaners to kick-off the 15th annual coat drive. To-date, the Monroe County “Coats for Seniors” program has collected over 10,000 coats, which have been generously donated by local residents. At the end of the program, any additional coats or winter items that have not been selected by a senior are donated to local shelters and clothing closets.
