Dinolfo Reminds Residents That Girls Sports Festival Registration Closes On July 31st

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo and representatives from Visit Rochester announced that registration for the Monroe County Girls Sports Festival closes on Tuesday, July 31st. To register, participants should visit www.monroecounty.gov/girlssportsfestival.

“The Monroe County Girls Sports Festival is a wonderful opportunity for girls from all across the area to show off their abilities, learn some new skills, and gain exposure to a wide array of activities,” said Dinolfo. “As grandmother to three very energetic young girls, I certainly appreciate the role of organized sports in keeping kids active, nurturing valuable teamwork skills, and supporting stronger families here in Monroe County. I am excited to see so much enthusiasm from participants around our community, and we are thrilled to accommodate that increased interest with an even bigger and better Girls Sports Festival this year.”

Monroe County is hosting the Festival in conjunction with Visit Rochester. Festival participants will be able to choose four different sports to explore, ranging from traditional sports like volleyball, gymnastics and field hockey to non-traditional sports like ultimate frisbee, disc golf and fencing. Local teams and organizations will manage each of the games - participants are welcome to select any four available sports, but are also encouraged to try an activity they have never experienced before.

For the first time, the festival will also be free for all attendees and will feature accessible and inclusive sports for individuals with disabilities. Monroe County and Visit Rochester are working with Rochester Accessible Adventures to ensure that any young athlete interested in attending the festival, regardless of ability, will be able to experience and compete in their favorite sports.

The Monroe County Girls Sports Festival will be held on Saturday, August 18th from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Frontier Field. Participants must register in advance. For registration details and a full list of sports, visit www.monroecounty.gov/girlssportsfestival.
