Dinolfo Announces Extended Hours to Allow Early Property Tax Payments

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced extended hours for City residents to pay their 2018 town/county property tax bills early. The County Treasurer’s Office will be open on Saturday, December 30th from 9:00AM to 1:00PM in order to accommodate residents who wish to pay their property taxes early. Residents in the City of Rochester can make their payment in person at the County Office Building. Residents in surrounding communities should contact their town for more information.
Dinolfo previously announced that county/town tax bills would be prepared early and posted on Monroe County’s website,, no later than 9:00 A.M. on Friday, December 29, 2017.

“We have received many inquiries from residents who plan to pay their 2018 property taxes early due to recently-passed federal tax reform legislation,” said Dinolfo. “In response, we are not only expediting the posting of property tax bills on our website, but also extending hours and opening our Treasurer’s Office on Saturday to help taxpayers make their payment before the end of the business year. Property tax bills can also be paid easily online at”
Under the newly passed federal tax plan, New Yorkers may benefit by paying their 2018 town/county taxes prior to January 1, 2018. Early payment of 2018 school tax bills is not permitted. Dinolfo encourages residents to consult a tax professional to discuss their own personal finance options before taking any action. Residents have the following options to pay their county/town tax bills:

Payments Made Via Cash, Check or Money Order
Residents outside the City of Rochester: Residents should contact their town in regards to tax payment location and hours of operation.

City of Rochester Residents: City of Rochester residents may pay their county taxes via cash, check or money order in person, at the County Treasurer’s Office, located at 39 West Main Street on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 9AM to 5 PM or on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 9AM to 1PM. Any payments made by mail are recommended to be sent via certified mail.

Payments Made Via Credit Card
Residents wishing to pay by credit card may go to to remit their tax payment by selecting “View Taxes Online.” *Please note there is a 3% fee for credit card payments.

Residents Who Escrow their Taxes with their Mortgage Company
Residents should contact their lender to determine if pre-payment is possible.
