As the Clerk of the New York State Supreme Court within Monroe County, the County Clerk hosts monthly naturalization ceremonies at the County Office Building in coordination with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, a component of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and State Supreme Court Justices of the 7th Judicial District.

At these ceremonies, the County Clerk's role is both to act as host and to administer the oaths of renunciation and allegiance, which represent the transfer of an individual's allegiance from their former nation to the United States.  These ceremonies are open to the public and interested residents are encouraged to attend and help welcome new U.S. citizens and learn more about the naturalization process.
