Phase 1A Vaccine Info/Eligibility

Monroe County and the Finger Lakes COVID-19 Vaccine Hub have begun preparations to increase vaccination efforts in response to the announcement that Phase 1B of the COVID-19 vaccination plan will begin in New York State on Monday, January 11, 2021. However, before fully implementing plans for Phase 1B, Monroe County and the Finger Lakes region will first seek to continue through Phase 1A of the vaccination rollout and will need additional vaccine to become available through New York State. Monroe County will consider retired nurses willing to renew their registration pursuant to state guidelines.

“We’ve heard from countless residents who are anxious to get the COVID-19 vaccine. I too am eager to accelerate our efforts in Monroe County and throughout the Finger Lakes region, but we need to continue to be patient to ensure this plan is done properly and with the entire community in mind. As more vaccine becomes available, we will ramp up our efforts, I can promise you that,” said Bello.

“In our region, we still have many 1A health care workers and long term care residents to vaccinate. We will move into 1B when vaccine supplies permit,” added Dr. Nancy Bennett.

Phase 1A of the COVID-19 vaccination plan includes frontline healthcare workers, nursing home residents and staff, EMS personnel, funeral home employees and licensed mental health providers. For a complete list of eligible sectors, or to check your eligibility, visit www.monroecounty.gov/health-covid19-vaccine.

Phase 1B of the COVID-19 vaccination plan includes teachers and education workers, first responders, public safety workers, public transit workers and anyone age 75 and older. It is estimated that additonal 100,000 Monroe County residetns will be covered under the Phase 1B vaccination effort.

While availability of vaccine is limited currently, more residents will become eligible to get vaccinated as supply becomes more available. Residents are encouraged to visit www.monroecounty.gov to check on their eligibility.
