Pediatric Nurse Specialist

Description of Duties
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements on or before the date of the written exam:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State Registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in Nursing, plus three (3) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent* experience as a Registered Nurse that involved hands-on care and patient assessment, one (1) year of which must have involved pediatric health care; OR,
(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State Registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, plus one (1) year of experience as defined in (A) above that involved pediatric health care; OR,
(C) Any equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
Special Requirements:
1. Possession of a New York State Registered Professional Nurse's license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State at the time of appointment or examination, whichever is first.
2. Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test for employment with Monroe County Government.
3. Candidates will be required to possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
