Description of Duties

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements on or before the date of the written exam:

Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or Early Childhood Development, plus two (2) year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent*** professional* experience in a human services** or law enforcement setting in a victim assistance agency, or in a community service agency dealing with crime victims such as a rape crisis center or an alternatives for battered women’s shelter.

*professional experience for the purpose of these minimum qualifications does not include secretarial, clerical, or receptionist type experience.

** human services setting for the purposes of these minimum qualifications is defined as an organization whose function is to provide assistance to individuals in need.  Human service agencies are involved in the delivery of social, economic or emotional support services to people in our society who are having difficulty coping with the pressures and strains of life.  Experience must involve direct contact with clients in need of services and requires judgment on the part of the individual in dealing with and responding to the client.
