Monroe County's Mobile Recycling Collections Coming Soon to a Town Near You

County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced a series of upcoming mobile recycling collections that will make these vital services even more accessible to County residents. The mobile services will include a free document shredding event, in addition to several pharmaceutical and household hazardous waste collections scheduled throughout the year.

“With Earth Day just around the corner and spring cleaning on the agenda for many of us, I want residents to know that Monroe County’s mobile recycling collections will be coming soon to a town near you,” said Dinolfo. “In partnership with Lifetime Assistance, Wegmans, and our local towns and villages, we are thrilled to be bringing these free recycling events out into our community all throughout the year. Come do your part to keep Monroe County beautiful and help us attract even more visitors, jobs, and employers here in 2018 and beyond.”

Document Shredding

Dinolfo will host a FREE document shredding event with Classified Scanning & Shredding, a division of Lifetime Assistance, Inc., on Wednesday, May 2nd. Document shredding helps protect residents from identity theft by destroying personal documents like tax returns, bank statements, and more. There is a limit of 3 boxes per person.

The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.:

· Wednesday, 5/2 – 425 Paul Road (Chili)

“Lifetime Assistance is honored to once again partner with Monroe County and support this great initiative,” said James Branciforte, President & CEO of Lifetime Assistance. “Monroe County has been an extraordinary community partner and longstanding customer of our Classified Scanning and Shredding Services. We are pleased to offer free document shredding to support their Mobile Recycling program. Classified Scanning and Shredding is a highly specialized business and we are honored to provide excellence in service, peace of mind to our clients, and most importantly, opportunities for meaningful employment for people with disabilities.”

Classified Scanning & Shredding, a division of Lifetime Assistance, Inc., employs a skilled labor force which includes 100+ workers with developmental disabilities, and offers a comprehensive suite of document management services including prepping, scanning, cloud storage and certified document destruction.

Collections will be held at the following Wegmans locations, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.:

· Saturday, 6/9 – Henrietta (745 Calkins Rd)
· Saturday, 8/4 – Chili (3175 Chili Ave)
· Saturday, 9/22 – Greece (3701 Mt. Read Blvd)

“Wegmans has been partnering with Monroe County now for the past 9 years,” said Carl Juliano, Wegmans Pharmacy Resource – Rochester Division. “As we have learned of the need in the community, it just made sense to hold these events at our stores, maximizing the number of people who might benefit from them. Being a good partner in the communities we serve is very important to us. We are pleased to work with the Monroe County Dept. of Environmental Services to help make those communities just a little bit safer.”

In addition to these collections, pharmaceutical waste is also accepted at all Sheriff’s Substations, many local police stations and the Ecopark. Hours of operation and a full list of locations is available at www.ecoparkmcny.com. No appointments are needed.
