Dinolfo Announces Opening Of Tropics Adventure Zone Play Area At Seneca Park Zoo

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo and officials from Seneca Park Zoo held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the Tropics Adventure Zone, a nature-based play space located just inside the Zoo’s front gate. This area was previously occupied by the antiquated Main Zoo Building, which was demolished in 2018. The Tropics Adventure Zone is an expansive play area inspired by the planned Tropics Complex building, which is scheduled to break-ground during the fall of 2020.

Monroe County & URMC Offering New Forensic Pathology Fellowship

County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo and the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) announced the launch of a new one-year forensic pathology fellowship program. The fellowship is made possible through a partnership between URMC’s Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and the Monroe County Office of the Medical Examiner (MCOME).

Dinolfo: Monroe County DES Receives Bronze Telly Award

County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced that Monroe County’s Department of Environmental Services (DES) has been named the recipient of a 2019 Bronze Telly Award for their “Recycling Right Begins With You: An Inside Look at the Monroe County Recycling Center” video. The award was announced via the Telly Award website.

Dinolfo Hosts American Flag Retirement Ceremony

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo hosted an American Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Ecopark and announced a permanent, sustainable retirement option for American Flags that are at the end of their lifespan. The Flag Retirement Ceremony, held on Flag Day, featured several local veterans groups and community organizations.

Dinolfo: ROC Airport Joins Aira Network to Improve Access for Blind and Low Vision Travelers

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo joined representatives from Aira and the Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) to announce that ROC has joined the Aira airport network to expand access to visual information for blind and low-vision travelers.

Dinolfo, Baxter, Wegmans Announce Upcoming Pharmaceutical Waste Collections

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo joined Monroe County Sheriff Todd K. Baxter and representatives from Wegmans to announce that the County’s Department of Environmental Services (DES) is partnering with Wegmans and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office to hold pharmaceutical waste collections to encourage proper disposal of prescription medications. Unused medications can be subjected to abuse that contributes to the ongoing opioid epidemic.

Dinolfo Announces Launch of New Property Maintenance Certification Program

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo and Monroe Community College (MCC) Vice President Dr. Todd Oldham announced the launch of a Property Maintenance Certification Program, a new consortium funded by LadderzUP and powered by MCC. Eleven individuals are participating in the thirteen week inaugural Property Maintenance class, sponsored by three companies: Gallina Development Corp., The Cabot Group, and Grand Atlas Properties.

Dinolfo Announces Series of Mobile Recycling Collections to Make Services More Accessible

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced a series of mobile recycling collections that make recycling services more accessible to County residents. Dinolfo and the Monroe County Department of Environmental Services (DES) will host a free document shredding event on May 1st, as well as a series of household hazardous waste (HHW) collections over the course of the year. All of these services are available at the Ecopark, but the mobile collections make them more convenient for residents.

Dinolfo, Kress Congratulate First Graduates of Certified Nursing Assistant Program

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo and Monroe Community College (MCC) President Dr. Anne M. Kress announced completion of the first-ever class of the MCC Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program funded by LadderzUP. A graduation ceremony was held for the 17 participants at MCC’s Downtown Campus.
