Dinolfo Launches MatchUP Monroe – A New, Immersive Internship Program for Local Students

County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo was joined by local business leaders, college and university representatives, and local stakeholders to launch MatchUP Monroe, a new County initiative aimed at retaining local college students after graduation. This first-of-its-kind immersive internship initiative, which has been in development since early 2019, will offer paid positions, free transportation and housing, and even local cultural experiences to show off all that Monroe County has to offer. Dinolfo: Monroe County's ‘Fiscal Stress’ Score Upgraded By State Comptroller

County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced that Monroe County has been informed by the Office of the New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli that the County’s “Fiscal Stress” designation was upgraded to “Moderate” from “Significant” for fiscal year 2018. Under the Comptroller’s “Fiscal Stress Monitoring System”, Monroe County’s “Fiscal Stress Score” has improved every year since Dinolfo took office in January of 2016.

Dinolfo Kicks-Off 16th Annual “Coats For Seniors” Program

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo was joined by Monroe County Legislator Kara Halstead as well as representatives from Medical Motors, Greater Rochester Area Partnership for the Elderly, the Department of Human Services, and Colony Dry Cleaners to kick-off the sixteenth annual “Coats for Seniors” program. The initiative, sponsored by the Monroe County Office for the Aging and Medical Motors, will once again collect and distribute donated winter coats to seniors in need throughout Monroe County. The program runs from September 24th, 2019 through December 17th, 2019.

Dinolfo: Sign our Petition to Tell Albany to Fix the Enhanced STAR ‘Debacle’

County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo today launched a petition calling on New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the leaders of the New York State Legislature to fix recent changes to New York State’s Enhanced STAR program. Dinolfo is being joined in the effort by New York State Senators Joe Robach and Rich Funke, who will host the petition at their District Offices and have continued to advocate against these misguided changes to Enhanced STAR. Dinolfo’s petition can be signed online or in person at the County Office Building, at Robach’s District Office, and Funke’s District Office.

Registration is Open for the 2nd Class of the New BOCES CDL Training Program

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo and representatives from Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Center for Workforce Development (CWD) announced that registration is open for the second Commercial Driver Licensing (CDL) Training Program funded by Monroe County. The class will begin in October and scholarships are available to interested participants. Graduates will fill vital driving job openings that serve aging members of the Monroe County community.

Dinolfo, Kress Expand Health Care Training Programs Available Through LadderzUP

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo and Monroe Community College (MCC) President Dr. Anne M. Kress announced the expansion of MCC’s health care training programs funded by LadderzUP. Through funding provided by Imagine Monroe, an additional 245 individuals will be trained and upskilled in the current academic year to fill high-demand health care positions.

ROC Airport to Receive Federal Grant for Regional Training Facility that Serves Aircraft Rescue Firefighters, First Responders

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo today announced the Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) has been selected to receive a federal grant totaling $2.7 million to fund Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) vehicles and equipment at the regional training facility that serves firefighters and first responders at the Public Safety Training Facility (PSTF) on Scottsville Road.

Dinolfo: County Supports City's Request for Neighborhood Construction Tax Exemption

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced her support for Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren’s request to expand the Core Housing Owner Incentive Exemption (CHOICE) program, which would provide assistance to homeowners who build new, owner-occupied residential units across the City of Rochester. The City is seeking approval from Imagine Monroe and today presented a plan to the Imagine Monroe Board at the Board’s regularly-scheduled September meeting. The expansion will be voted on by the Imagine Monroe Board at a future meeting.

Dinolfo: Latest Projects Approved By Imagine Monroe Will Secure 1,500+ More Jobs

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced that Imagine Monroe approved assistance for several local economic development projects. These projects are anticipated to create and retain over 1,500 full-time equivalent jobs in Monroe County.

New Finger Lakes Workforce Development Center Coming To MCC Downtown Campus

County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo was joined by Monroe Community College (MCC) President Dr. Anne M. Kress and Madhuri Kommareddi, Director of Workforce Development for New York State, to announce the creation of a new Finger Lakes Workforce Development Center at Monroe Community College’s Downtown Campus. The Workforce Development Center will be a 50,000 square feet, state-of-the-art industrial training facility that will support an evolving list of accelerated training initiatives – including Monroe County’s LadderzUp program – which will address workforce shortages across a variety of industries.
