Dinolfo Invites Female Business Leaders To Join County's Second Women Business Accelerator

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo, in partnership with The Entrepreneurs Network (TEN), today announced the launch of a second Women Business Accelerator in Monroe County. Designed exclusively for management-level women in women owned or led businesses that are scaling for growth, the Accelerator is an initiative of TEN, one of the premier entrepreneurial programs in Upstate New York. Statistics show that women are half as likely as men to start a business and remain under-represented among entrepreneurs across the state and nation.

“As a former small business owner myself, I know that more can be done to invest in the creativity and ingenuity of female entrepreneurs,” said Dinolfo. “As County Executive, I am committed to fostering an environment that supports our female entrepreneurs by providing the resources needed to succeed in a competitive business world. Our second Women Business Accelerator will be an incredible chance for us to help close the opportunity gap so even more local women can lead from the front as we work to grow more jobs and build a stronger economy for all of us.”

The Entrepreneurs Network’s second Women Business Accelerator will offer training in new and best practices in human resources, marketing and sales integration, finances, and operations. TEN offers peer-focused support from instructors and coaches who are investors and business owners themselves. TEN alumni have reported exceptional increases in their firms’ growth and performance according to a 2012 survey: 20% have revenues over $1 Million; 16% raised $50,000 to $250,000 in capital; 50% of TEN alumni are hiring.

Nine highly interactive Women Business Accelerator sessions will be held over the course of four months, taught by leading experts from across the country. Customized to individual needs, participants are also assigned coaches who work one-on-one to advise or connect companies with additional resources available to them. All TEN coaches either run companies or are active investors. The Women Business Accelerator application deadline is August 31st and can be completed by visiting ten-ny.org/apply.

The Entrepreneurs Network is one of Upstate New York's fastest growing initiatives designed to bolster economic growth. For more information, please visit the TEN website at TEN-NY.org, or contact Jean Kase, TEN Executive Director, at 585-753-2031 or jeankase@ten-ny.org.
