Dinolfo Invites Vietnam Veterans to Attend "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day" Ceremony

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo and local officials will pay tribute to Vietnam Veterans during Monroe County’s annual “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day.” The local ceremony, which is also commemorated nationwide, will feature members of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 20 of Rochester and will offer recognition and appreciation for all veterans who served during the Vietnam War.

“Our community is truly fortunate to have such a strong and active presence of Vietnam Veterans,” said Dinolfo. “Their sense of duty has endured long past their return home, as they have given so much for our community and asked for so little in return. This ceremony is one small way for us to show our appreciation and to give them the “welcome home” they earned many years ago. To all of our Vietnam Veterans, on behalf of a grateful community, I want to say thank you and job well done.”

Nearly 23,000 Vietnam Veterans live in the six-county, greater-Rochester area, and many of them have joined Chapter 20 Vietnam Veterans of America. Serving as the largest, most active and longest standing local chapters of the National Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc., the organization maintains a strong, united voice for addressing issues of importance to all Vietnam-era veterans.

Monroe County is inviting all Vietnam-era veterans to attend the ceremony, regardless of duration or location of service. Light refreshments will be provided.
