Monroe County DOT Standards

Standard Construction Details

The Monroe County Standard Details are used to detail work done within the County Right of Way. The details are to be used by consultants, developers, utilities and homeowners for work on County highways and bridges, and any permitted work done within the County Right of Way. The details used are available in English units. The details can be used for preparing permit applications, or for information and use in preparing contract documents for capital highway and bridge projects.

Standard Construction Specifications

The Monroe County Standard Specifications are used by consultants for work to be done for contracts on County Roads in lieu of similar NYSDOT specifications. The specifications are provided for information and use in preparing contract documents for capital highway and bridge improvement projects. All county highway and bridge projects are designed and constructed using metric units of measurement. The specifications are all written in metric units, unless otherwise noted.

This division oversees snow and ice control work contracted to the towns. They are also responsible for the planning, design and overseeing of construction of highway maintenance work completed by towns and contractor forces. The in-house design section is responsible for the design of milling, resurfacing and guide rail contracts along with providing design and drafting assistance for various projects.

Citizen Advisory Groups

For those who want a chance to be involved in individual projects, there are Citizen’s Advisory Groups. When MCDOT plans a capital improvement project in your area, all citizens are given the opportunity to become a member of the Citizen’s Advisory Group (CAG). As a member of the CAG, you will be reviewing reports, attending work sessions and—most importantly—giving us your input and opinion.
