Standard Construction Details
The Monroe County Standard Details are used to detail work done within the County Right of Way. The details are to be used by consultants, developers, utilities and homeowners for work on County highways and bridges, and any permitted work done within the County Right of Way. The details used for permitted work are available in English units and the details used for Highway and Bridge projects are in metric units. The details can be used for preparing permit applications, or for information and use in preparing contract documents for capital highway and bridge projects.
Standard Construction Specifications
The Monroe County Standard Specifications are used by consultants for work to be done for contracts on County Roads in lieu of similar NYSDOT specifications. The specifications are provided for information and use in preparing contract documents for capital highway and bridge improvement projects. All county highway and bridge projects are designed and constructed using metric units of measurement. The specifications are all written in metric units, unless otherwise noted.

MCDOT Highway Engineering
About Highway Engineering
The Highway Engineering Division is comprised of a variety of functional sections.
The Capital Highway Design and Construction section is responsible for the administration, design and construction supervision of the capital highway programs and spot improvements projects.
This division oversees snow and ice control work contracted to the towns. They are also responsible for the planning, design and overseeing of construction of highway maintenance work completed by towns and contractor forces. The in-house design section is responsible for the design of milling, resurfacing and guide rail contracts along with providing design and drafting assistance for various projects.
Permits and Surveys
The Permit Office conducts design reviews of proposed highway developments, issues highway permits, inspects the highway work performed by the permittee, maintains records and collects permit fees, and ensures contractor conformance with county requirements during construction. It also manages the ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY and In Bloom programs.
Survey and Mapping is responsible for surveying and mapping of Monroe County highway, bridge and land improvement projects. They also established and maintain a county-wide monumentation program used by all surveyors for control in the county.
