Monroe County Towns: 2012 Dates
Valuation Date: July 1st
In each municipality, property is assessed based upon what its market value would have been on this date given its condition on taxable status date. For example, for the Final Assessment Roll upcoming in 2012 the valuation date will be July 1, 2011.
Taxable Status/Exemption Filing Date: March 1st
The assessment reflects the ownership and physical condition of the property as of this date. In addition, exemption applications must be filed by this date. For the 2012 Tentative Assessment Roll the date is March 1, 2012.
Tentative Assessment Roll: May 1st
The assessor completes, certifies and files a roll containing proposed assessed values for each property in the assessing unit. For the 2012 Tentative Assessment Roll, the Tentative Roll Date is May 1, 2012.
Grievance Day Date: May 22nd
Board of Assessment Review meets to hear assessment complaints. Last day property owners may file a formal complaint seeking reduction in their tentative assessments. This is always the fourth Tuesday in the month of May. For the 2012 Assessment Roll, Grievance Day is May 22, 2012.
Final Assessment Roll Date: July 1st
The assessor signs and files a roll that contains the final assessments, including all changes. The 2012 Final Assessment Roll Date is July 1, 2012.
