Brooks Announces First-Ever Fall Movie, Free at the Highland Bowl: Frankenstein
Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks announced that the popular “Movies in the Parks” series will present its first-ever fall motion picture, the 1931 Universal Studios film classic, Frankenstein, starring Boris Karloff. The Monroe County Parks Department will host this free outdoor event on Saturday, October 20th at the Highland Park Bowl. Pre-show fun will start at 6:00 p.m. and the film will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Our ‘Movies in the Parks’ series was so successful this past summer, we have added a fall bonus-film,”said Brooks. While many people have seen the movie Frankenstein, few had the opportunity to experience it on the big-screen. At this special presentation, Monroe County families and residents of all ages will be able to enjoy this classic film under the stars, free of charge, at the Highland Park Bowl.”

Brooks also thanked the movie co-sponsors for their assistance, which allows Monroe County to present this event free of charge. In addition to Monroe County, the sponsors of Frankenstein include: New York State Senator Joseph Robach, Advanced Audio Visual Services, Seneca Park Zoo Society, High Falls Film Festival and Rochester Community Players.

The feature presentation of Frankenstein, which runs 71 minutes, is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., pre-show fun will include monster movie trivia, a ghost story, a spooky sing-along and the High Falls Film Festival’s presentation of the CG animated movie-short, Moongirl (2005).

As the Highland Park Bowl is an outdoor amphitheater with all lawn seating, attendees are advised to dress appropriately for the weather and bring their own seating (lawn chairs and/or blankets are recommended). Concessions will be available for purchase at this event.
