Brooks Announces Lanovara Specialty Foods, Inc. Is Business Of The Month
Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks announced that Lanovara Specialty Foods, Inc., a leading wholesale food distributor, has been named Monroe County’s “Business of the Month”.

Lanovara Specialty Foods, Inc., located in Henrietta, has been a staple of this community since1920, and their success is a testament to their dedication to providing premier Italian baked goods to Monroe County and other areas on the East Coast,” said County Executive Maggie Brooks. “We are proud that they call Monroe County their home and thank them for their continued commitment to expanding their operations here and creating jobs within our community.”

Since my wife and I purchased Lanovara in November 2007, Monroe County has been very supportive of the investments we have made in the company as well as the community,” said Bert Salisbury, President of Lanovara. “We are continuing to grow our business by purchasing equipment, hiring more employees, and expanding our customer base and product offerings and we thank Monroe County for all the support and opportunities they have given us.

Lanovara was founded in 1920 as a retail Italian Bakery in the City of Rochester and has now become a full-scale commercial bakery and wholesale food distributor for over 1,500 products. The company currently employs 27 in Monroe County and has over 50 employees throughout its distribution area. In addition to serving the Rochester area with its homemade classic Italian pastries, Lanovara’s distribution area spans parts of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia.

Lanovara occupies a 23,000 square foot warehouse at 208 Mushroom Boulevard where they have been located since 1994. Lanovara worked with Monroe County’s Economic Development Department and was approved for a GreatRate/Equiplus through the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency in 2008 to assist with the purchase of $157,000 in equipment.
