Brooks Announces Holiday Viewing Plans for "Clock of the Nations"

Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks announced that the Greater Rochester International Airport (GRIA) has developed a plan with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to grant non-traveling visitors security access to view the historic “Clock of the Nations” this holiday season.
“Monroe County and the Greater Rochester International Airport are proud to give non-traveling visitors a chance to enjoy the ‘Clock of the Nations,’” said Brooks . “The clock is a true treasure and a significant part of our community’s history. I am thrilled that countless children and families will be able to view the fully-restored clock during the holiday season.”
For security purposes and in order to reduce waiting times, visitors are encouraged to pre-register to visit the “Clock of the Nations” by calling the GRIA at 753-7020 during normal business hours, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors must provide their full name, address and phone number.
From Saturday, November 29 th through Sunday, December 28 th , visitors can view the “Clock of the Nations” at the GRIA on the following days:
* Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
* Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
(except on Christmas Day)
Those visiting the “Clock of the Nations” must bring government-issued identification (driver’s license or passport) and are required to go through one of the GRIA’s security checkpoint lanes. Clock visitors will also receive a pass for free parking at the Airport.
The “Clock of the Nations,” formerly housed at Midtown Plaza, is currently on display at the Airport’s Center Food Court Observatory. The Monroe County Airport Authority acquired and fully restored the “Clock of the Nations” to its original state earlier this year.
The clock has been on display at the Greater Rochester International Airport since August and will remain at the Airport until 2012. The clock will then be donated to the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong.
