County Parks Department and Local Recycling Company Collaborate to “Pick-Up-The-Parks”

County Executive Maggie Brooks announced the Pick-Up-The-Parks event, hosted by the Monroe County Parks Department and local business, Sunnking Electronics Recycling. Volunteers from across the community will be cleaning up several Monroe County parks on Saturday, April 9th, 2011. The event begins at 9:00 a.m. at various locations throughout the County.
“Our parks system in Monroe County boasts some of our most valuable resources and contributes to the high quality of life that our residents enjoy,” said Brooks. “Maintaining the beauty of our parks is something that we all benefit greatly from and I cannot thank our Parks Department and Sunnking Electronics Recycling enough for their support.”
Pick-Up-The-Parks will take place at six of Monroe County’s most popular parks; Black Creek, Ellison, Genesee Valley, Mendon Ponds, Ontario Beach and Seneca Park. This community outreach effort will also serve as an electronic waste collection event for volunteers of the clean-up. Volunteers are invited to bring at least one electronic item to be recycled, and in return, will receive a coupon towards the purchase of a refurbished electronic item from Sunnking Electronics Recycling.
Participants should bring a pair of gloves, their own work tools, and dress appropriately for the weather. Light refreshments will be available at no charge before the cleanup. Specific meeting sites and pre-registration information is available on the Monroe County website by visiting
