Dinolfo Announces Nationwide Search For Office Of Public Integrity Director

County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced a nationwide search for a Director of the newly created Office of Public Integrity in Monroe County.

“Establishing an Office of Public Integrity has been a priority of mine since day one and the cornerstone of my forward-looking integrity agenda,” said Dinolfo. “I look forward to the appointment of a highly qualified Director who will serve as an impartial steward for all county operations. The Director of the Office of Public Integrity will share my mission to improve efficiency and accountability and play a vital role in establishing a county government that is open and ethical making Monroe County residents proud.”

Heading the Office of Public Integrity, the Director will be appointed for a fixed term of five years with the first appointment serving through December 31, 2020. The Director’s responsibilities include examining all County operations independently with the authority to report findings to law enforcement; the authority to require any County employee to provide information; subpoena witnesses, take testimony and compel documents from any group doing business with the County, including Local Development Corporations; conduct financial and operational investigations and audits of the County; promote and maintain a whistleblower mechanism by which all Monroe County residents and employees may provide information concerning misconduct or illegal activity on the part of any employee, officer, and/or contractor of the County.

Monroe County is seeking a candidate with experience in law enforcement management and/or forensic accounting, knowledge of auditing procedures, investigative techniques relating to internal audit activities, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.

In addition, the Director of the Office of Public Integrity is prohibited from participating in any political activities. The Director will provide an annual report to the County Legislature and County Executive.
