Public Hearing Regarding Monroe County Agricultural Districts Scheduled

Public Hearing Regarding Monroe County Agricultural Districts Scheduled

The New York State Agriculture and Markets Law provides for property owners to request agricultural land to be added to an established agricultural district on an annual basis.

Between February 23, 2016, and March 23, 2016, five (5) landowners requested that a total of eight (8) parcels be added to Monroe County’s Southwestern, Northwestern and Eastern Agricultural Districts. The Monroe County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board confirmed that these parcels are predominately viable agricultural land and are therefore eligible for addition.

There will be a Public Hearing on the matter at the Monday, August 22, 2016 meeting of the Planning and Economic Development Committee. The meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. and is held in the Legislative Chambers in the County Office Building, 39 W. Main Street, Rochester, New York.
