Nursing Supervisor, prov. (Baylor Program)
Description of Duties
This position is responsible for supervising, developing, motivating and evaluating nursing personnel, and for assisting in planning and coordinating the twenty‑four (24) hour functioning of assigned nursing units. Employees work only evening and/or night-shifts and also assume administrative responsibility for the hospital on an assigned shift basis, communicating with an appropriate "on call" administrator as necessary. Leeway is allowed for the exercise of independent judgment and decision‑making in determining patient/resident needs and solutions to clinical care problems. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of a hospital administrator. General supervision is exercised over a professional and paraprofessional nursing staff. Does related work as required.
Baylor Program:
The designated Baylor Program hours are from 3:00 pm Friday to 11:30 pm Monday. The exact shifts for Baylor Program participants will be determined by the County and shifts may be scheduled back to back.
Baylor Program participant’s work two (2) 12-hour shifts and an additional eight (8) hours beginning Friday evening shift through Monday evening shift and receive compensation for 40 hours.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a New York State License as a Registered Professional Nurse plus EITHER:
- Eighteen (18) months paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as a Registered Nurse, six (6) months of which must have been in a supervisory or charge nurse capacity; OR,
- Thirty-six (36) months paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse, six (6) months of which must have been in a supervisory or charge nurse capacity; OR,
- An equivalent combination of experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
