Monroe County Town Dates

Valuation Date: July 1st

In each municipality, property is assessed based upon what its market value would have been on this date given its condition on taxable status date.

Taxable Status/Exemption Filing Date: March 1st

The assessment reflects the ownership and physical condition of the property as of this date. In addition, exemption applications must be filed by this date.

Tentative Assessment Roll: May 1st

The assessor completes, certifies and files a roll containing proposed assessed values for each property in the assessing unit.

Grievance Day Date: 4th Tuesday of May

Board of Assessment Review meets to hear assessment complaints. Last day property owners may file a formal complaint seeking reduction in their tentative assessments. This is always the fourth Tuesday in the month of May. Check with your local assessor for more details.

Final Assessment Roll Date: July 1st

The assessor signs and files a roll that contains the final assessments, including all changes.

City of Rochester Dates

In the City of Rochester, property is assessed based upon what its market value would have been on this date given its condition on taxable status date.
