Ice Rink Information
Monroe County Parks is host to two natural pond ice rinks and one synthetic ice rink. Park staff maintain these rinks as the weather allows.
The two natural rinks are at Chuchville Park near the Church lodge and Highland Park on the Lily Pond. The synthetic rink is offered seasonally at Ontairo Beach Park under the Sandpiper shelter.

FAQ
Q: When will the ice rinks be open?
A: The ice rinks open as soon as the weather stays cold enough for ice to form that is safe enough to walk/skate/maintain. If the weather warms up and affects the condition of the ice, the rink will be closed. Other factors such as snow piling up on the ice can also impact the ice surface and cause the rink to close.
Q: What is a synthetic ice rink?
A: A synthetic ice rink is an engineered skating surface designed to mimic the glide and feel of real ice without requiring refrigeration, water, or constant resurfacing. The synthetic ice rink at Ontario Beach Park is offered seasonally generally from the beginning of November through mid-March.
Q: How does the weather affect the synthetic ice rink being open or closed?
A: The synthetic ice rink at Ontario Beach Park stays open regardless of weather conditions. However, the rink may occasionally be closed for maintenance. The synthetic rink is only offered seasonally generally from the beginning of November to mid-March.
Q: Am I allowed to help maintain the ice rink(s)?
A: No, please do not attempt to maintain the rink by yourself. Improper maintenance of the rink can lead to rink closures prematurely.
