Q. What if I can't afford treatment?

All publicly funded, licensed outpatient mental health clinics and chemical dependency clinics in Monroe County accept Medicaid, as well as local insurance carriers.

In addition, all have a sliding fee scale for those without insurance, and if that is a burden, you can request for the fee to be reduced or possibly waived, or for a reasonable payment plan to be set up. No one can be turned away from a publicly funded clinic for inability to pay, but agencies will need verification of financial need.

If you believe that you have been denied an appointment due to lack of insurance, ask to speak with the intake supervisor at that agency. If you continue to be denied an appointment due to lack of financial resources, contact the Monroe County Office of Mental Health at 585-753-6047 or [email protected] for further assistance.

Q. What do I do when I have a problem or grievance with a mental health, chemical dependency or developmental disability provider?

You should ask for the agency’s grievance procedure and/or talk to with a supervisor. If that is not successful, you may contact the Office of Mental Health for assistance at 585-753-6047.
