Head Custodian
Description of Duties
This is a supervisory custodial/maintenance position responsible for the efficient and economical cleaning and maintenance of school buildings or other types of facilities. In smaller school districts work also involves the maintenance of grounds and athletic fields. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of, a higher level staff member with considerable leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in keeping buildings and equipment up to approved standards of cleanliness and operation. General supervision is exercised over lower level staff such as Cleaners, Laborers, and Custodians.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class at BOCES #1; or the Brockport, Churchville-Chili, Fairport, Gates-Chili and Penfield Central School Districts or Monroe Community College and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twelve (12) holding the position of Custodian immediately preceding the date of the written test.
