Water Resource Recovery Operator (Formerly Pump And Process Operator)
Description of Duties
This position is responsible for operating processes within the Department of Environmental Services Monroe County’s wastewater treatment plants and pumping facilities. On weekends, holidays and night shifts, the employee can be expected to be responsible for the supervision of the complete and actual operation of a wastewater treatment plant or in the absence of a higher level operator. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of a Senior Water Resource Recovery Operator or other higher-level staff member. Lead supervision is exercised over Water Resource Recovery Operator Trainees and Water Resource Recovery Assistants evenings and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be permanently employed at the Monroe County Department of Environmental Services and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twelve (12) months holding the competitive class title of Senior Pure Water Technician OR twenty-four (24) months holding the non-competitive class titles of Pump and Process Operator Assistant or Water Resource Recovery Assistant immediately preceding the date of the written test. In addition, candidates must meet the following open competitive qualifications:
Possession of a valid New York State Grade III-A or higher (Grade IV-A) Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator’s Certification*.
